Several sources report that settlement talks over interim maps continued in earnest this weekend and say that it is possible that a deal could be announced as early as Monday.
Sources cautioned, though, that there are many moving pieces to the deal and that it is not clear whether it will be possible to get all plaintiff groups on board. Some closely involved in the process are said to be concerned that the state is attempting to divide and conquer plaintiff groups in negotiations and that any partial deal could prove to be divisive.
On the congressional map, it is understood that a deal likely would include a Hispanic majority district in North Texas.
The talks are said to be wide-ranging, covering issues beyond interim maps.
