Congressman Joe Barton (CD-6) filed an advisory with the San Antonio court this morning sharply contesting claims by the Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott that he had reached out to all parties in settlement discussions.

Barton said he had been “precluded from any settlement discussions” and, in fact, did not receive any response from the AG’s office to requests that he be allowed to participate.

Barton also told the court that he “strongly objects to this proposed settlement” and would be “brief[ing] the Court on the legal issues which are problematic in the proposed map.”

Barton’s advisory can be found here.
